Changes to CMMC are Coming Soon
According to the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body (CMMC-AB), a new version of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model is coming.
- This updated version will retain most of the foundational elements of the original version released in January 2020.
- There are some expected changes, including removing at least one Domain and combining various model elements that were redundant.
- It is also possible that the model could shift to three levels instead of five and that assessment guidelines could be based on NIST SP 800-171 instead of the previously released CMMC Assessment Guide.
- The new version is expected to be released by March 2021.
As soon as CMMC 2.0 is released, CMMC-AB will update all certification materials and requirements as quickly as possible so that certification exams can begin in June. SimSpace will quickly follow suit to ensure our CMMC training courses align to the updated model and exam objectives. With these changes, the first certified CMMC training — including the ones from SimSpace — will become available by April 2021.
